Love this author. With that being said, and because I have read almost all her other books, I was not "lost" with the characters. I did, however, feel that the story was lacking some meat and depth. Basically, she came home for the holidays, old boyfriend came to find her, they get together. I think the Christmas aspect could have been played up a bit mnore, and Jenny, the female character, seemed a little spoiled and immature. Her mother remarried and had a child, big deal, get over it. It was not like she was a small child herself. She was getting ready to go to college, but to dismiss her little brother was very, sad and immature.

All in all, I guess a quick okay read, but in my opinion, lacked the depth of characters and story line that I have come to expect from this author. As a "Christmas story" I felt it was very lacking - not much of Christmas in it, other than the play.

A Seaside Christmas A Chesapeake Shores Novel Sherryl Woods Books Reviews

A sweet romance that kept me entertained, but was lacking excitement or drama. It was very easy going and very good at helping me figure out who all the characters were. There were no explicit sex scenes if that is important to you.
For the last year, I have read numerous books in Sherryl Woods series, Sweet Magnolias and Chesapeake Shores Series. I am currently waiting on a pre-order that will come out later this month. I am reading a stand-alone book currently, Tea and Destiny, which I find a bit more steamy than the others. I absolutely love her books and love the way she incorporates real life problems and issues into her romance books. I will bringing two books with me to the beach this summer and look forward to being on the beach reading the last two in Chesapeake Shores. The O'Brien's are quite the family.
I enjoyed reading this book. I love Christmas romance stories. Can't wait to read the next in the series. Well done Sherryl. Highly recommend
Another fantastic book in the Chesapeake Shores series. Absolutely loved it. Hope this series never ends. Each book in the series keeps getting better and better. Love all the characters.
I have enjoyed the Chesapeake Shore novels and like the characters. I think the books are so much better than the TV production of the same books on the Hallmark channel. The characters on the TV don’t seem to be the same as in the book.
I've read all the Chesapeake Shores stories and was glad there was one for Jenny. I love the way Sheryl writes family stories. They are heartwarming and familiar. Jenny goes home to nurse her broken heart after her break up with Caleb. But she comes home on shaky terms with her mother and stepfather, who have made her feel like an outsider. Caleb tries to show her that he has changed and her mother tries to let her know that they are still a twosome, even tho two new members have been added to their family. Enjoyed the story but had a problem with Bree's character. She seemed too meddlesome. Jenny never had a chance to say no to her and kept giving in. Bree's reason for this was that she needed to have a successful play so her work as a director would be recognized-pretty selfish!
Sherryl Woods is a wonderful storyteller; and this novel, one of the Chesapeake Shores series, is a heartwarming story of big families and young love. The O'Briens are a loud Irish family who planned,created and inhabit the town of Chesapeake Shores. They, like most families, are apt to fuss among themselves but fight anyone else who interferes with family members to the bitter end. This novel involves the relationship of Jenny and her ex-boyfriend Caleb. She, a very successful songwriter, and he, a famous singer, have issues--big issues. Love is fickle; however, and their interaction during the holidays makes for some page-turning excitement. The whole family is one step away from a huge family Christmas and the love that is what the season is all about. The entire series is fun, but the Seaside Christmas is a great seasonal read.
